Sunscreen which is also called as sun cream, comes in the form of a lotion, spray, gel or other topical product that absorbs or reflects some of the sun’s Ultra Violet(UV) radiation and protects the skin against sunburn. Fairness creams and other Skin Lightening products have sunscreen to protect the lightened skin because light or fair skin is more susceptible to sun damage than darker skin. A number of sunscreens have tanning powder to help make the skin darker or tanned, but tanning powder does not provide protection from UV rays. There are 2 types of sunscreens. There are physical sunscreens, those which reflect the sunlight and there are chemical sunscreens, those which absorb the UV light. Sunscreens are commonly rated and labeled with a sun protection factor (SPF) that measures the fraction of sunburn-producing UV rays that reach the skin. SPF 15 means that 1/15th of the burning radiation will reach the skin when the recommended thickness of sunscreen is applied. Other rating systems indicate the degree of protection from non-burning UVA radiation. If a person develops sunburn in 10 minutes, when not wearing a sunscreen, the same person in the same intensity of sunlight will avoid sunburn for 150 minutes if wearing a sunscreen with an SPF of 15. A sunblock is an opaque sunscreen that is effective at blocking both UVA and UVB rays and uses a heavy carrier oil to resist being washed off. Find the best sunscreen for your skin at Purplle.com.
