Most men shave everyday but they rarely give much thought to the approach. Shaving is much more intense than just shaving foam, razor and after shave! Putting a little effort in your shaving routine can improve your skin drastically. We are talking about a more smoother and a softer skin. These pre-shaving tips will make your morning chore into a spa-like indulgence that every man deserves.
Ideally, most men are just use to slopping on some drug store shaving foam and shaving away their morning stubble. However, a good pre-shave routine can not only drastically improve the quality of your shave but also reduce any kind of irritation that occurs on your skin.
1. Take a HOT shower
We strongly recommend you shave post your shower, not before or during. Steaming up your bathroom can also be a great addition to your shaving routine. Steam causes the pores in your face to relax and the skin to soften, allowing your razor to slide smoothly across your morning stubble. A nice shower will steam your skin, causing the follicles to open, allowing for whiskers to protrude further away from the skin. If some reason you can’t shower, make sure your rinse your face with warm water and keep a hot, damp towel on your face for a minute or two. If possible, add a few drops of essential oils to the towel, this will create a spa-like experience.
2. Soften your beard
Condition your hair while in the shower. Apply generous amount of conditioner to your hair. Let the conditioner stay on your beard for a couple of minutes, allowing it to soften the hair on your face. Rinse it with warm water. Cleanse your face with a men’s face wash to wash away all the oil, dirt and dead skin cells. Doing this before your shave is imperative for a good shave. Make sure you use a men’s face wash and not a general one. That too your skin type specific. We would also recommend to use men’s facial scrub twice or thrice a week. Facial scrub will loosen up the whiskers, bring them to the surface and remove and dead skin cell build up that could be an obstacle for the blade.
3. Use a Pre-Shave Oil
Shaving can strip your skin of the moisture. Shaving can cause irritation as it reduces the skin cells of hydration. We suggest you hydrate your skin before the shave to prevent the moisture loss.Your skin will be soft and supple once you come out the shower and to keep it that way, we suggest you use a pre-shave oil. This will help to lock in the moisture. Pre-shave oil will also help in lubricating the blade as it moves across your face, reducing any irritation.
That's it! Now you are ready to get a super smooth shave!
