Aspirin for Acne – Does it work?

There are many home remedies that are used to treat acne. One of the home remedies includes using an Aspirin tablet for acne. Aspirin contains a substance called acetylsalicylic acid that works as a pain reliever.

2. Combine the Aspirin powder with one tablespoon of warm water to create a paste.

5. Leave the paste for 10-15 minutes till it dries. 
6. Rinse your face with warm water and follow up with a moisturizer. 

So, this is how you can use Aspirin for treating acne on your face. You can also apply the paste and leave it overnight for effective results. Also, you can repeat this process once or twice a day until the acne clears up. 

Do not overuse Aspirin as it can dry out your skin. Using it twice a day is more than enough. Excessive use of Aspirin can lead to breakouts and can strip off your skin’s natural oils. Let us now look at the possible side effects of using Aspirin for treating acne. 
 

Side Effects of Aspirin

• Secondly, using Aspirin for treating acne can increase your skin’s sensitivity to harmful UV Rays. If you are using Aspirin at home, make sure to wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen to protect your skin from the sun’s radiation. 
• Thirdly, you must not use Aspirin at all if you are pregnant or breastfeeding your baby. This can increase the risk of bleeding in your child. Always consult your doctor before taking any medications.  
• Finally, you must not use Aspirin if you are allergic to NSAIDs like Ibuprofen and Naproxen.  

The side effects of Aspirin must be kept in mind before taking any dose of it. Aspirin is anti-inflammatory and treats various kinds of acne like pustules, nodules, cysts, etc. Aspirin helps in combating inflammatory acne that is caused due to the accumulation of oil inside skin pores. • Wash your oily scalp daily. 
• Avoid sun exposure wherever possible.
