Blue Eyeliner Looks And Ideas
Aayushi Mehra
With more and more variations in make-up products and skincare, trends are constantly changing and evolving to allow for bolder, brighter, and more artistic looks. Blue eyeliner makeup is a key trending product that adds a touch of that “oomph” factor to your make-up look. It works well in all weathers and with all sorts of different looks. Take a dive into the three best ways to use your blue eyeliner and give yourself a unique makeover.
Classic Black With A Twist
If you’re a fan of the classic black eyeliner , winged or otherwise, blue eyeliner makeup might feel like a big shift. Lucky for you, there are plenty of looks that give you the best of both worlds. The best way to use both in one go is to create a shift in color from the inner eye to the outer edge.
BLACK-BLUE SHIFT
- Start with blue or black at the inner corner of your eye, extending the liner till mid eyelid. If you use blue eyeliner in the inner corner, try using some shimmer to highlight and brighten the eye.
- While semi-wet, use the other color to extend the liner over your eyelid into a wing. If you use blue inside, use black outside and vice versa.
- Add a little bit of black or grey eyeshadow to your lower lash line to complete.
- Add mascara and kajal to make the look dark, smokey, yet vibrant for the perfect night-out.
BLACK-BLUE DOUBLE LINER
- For this look start with your classic winged liner in black. Choose a thinner line of black eyeliner for this look.
- Take your blue eyeliner and carefully start drawing a thin line along the top line of the black eyeliner. Follow the black liner’s edge and taper out the blue eyeliner closer to the wing.
- Mascara makes the look sharper and fuller. If you’re feeling particularly adventurous, try some blue mascara on your lower lashes.
Blue Gradients
Blue is such a calm color but it adds a spark of much-needed color to any outfit. When you add gradients into that mix, the look softens while still being eye-catching. Gradients are some of the most fun eyeshadow looks with blue eyeliner. There are two types of gradients you could attempt, using a mix of eyeshadows and your best blue eyeliner.
MONO BLUE GRADIENT
- Start with a concealer on your eyelids to provide a base for your eyeshadow.
- Apply white, or the lightest shade of blue eyeshadow, to the inner corner of your eye.
- Move outwards towards your outer eye corner, blending in darker shades of blue until the edge. Add a slight wing to the end to line up with your eyeliner. Use a piece of tape to keep the edges clean.
- Apply eyeliner in one smooth line across your eyelid, following the winged edge of the eyeshadow to form a crisp wing.
- Use mascara on your eyelashes and a dark blue eyeshadow along your waterline to complete the look.
X TO BLUE GRADIENT
- Pick out an adjacent color palette (green or purple are ideal). Apply a tiny bit of concealer as a base before building your gradient.
- You could either build a horizontal gradient from greens to blues from inner corner to edge, or you could work in layers and build a vertical gradient ending with a lighter shade of blue than your eyeliner at the top of your eyelid.
- Add your blue eyeliner on the top of your eyelids and pull it out into a wing following the lower edge of the eyeshadow shape you had created.
Complementary colors
Using complementary colors adds depth to your luck, while still being pretty easy to execute. For your blue eyeliner, the best color to choose for a truly refreshing and eye-catching look is orange. The two together add a touch of summer freshness to your makeup look.
SUNRISE LOOK
- Use concealer to make a base for your eyeshadow.
- Apply orange eyeshadow across your eyelids. You could try a gradient with yellow eyeshadow as well. Try different patterns and gradients to figure out what suits you best.
- Take your blue eyeliner and add it in a neat line across the base of your eyelids. As a wing at the edge. Use an eyeliner brush if you are not a pro.
- For extra effect, you could add dots or shapes in clusters around the inner corner of the eye.
- Try some blue mascara for the ultimate summer fresh look!
Bold fashion choices are what make life just a little more exciting than usual! The blue eyeliner look is just the tip of everything you can do to make your makeup go from “same thing, everyday” to “actual art on a face.” Try out different colors and looks to make every day a more exciting one!
