What is body acne?

Acne involves the accumulation of excessive sebum and oil on our skin, causing papules, pustules, whiteheads, blackheads and other forms of pimples. While face acne is more commonly found, body acne (especially on our back) is also something a lot of people struggle with, especially while growing up, experiencing a surge of hormones or hormonal imbalance.

Body acne is not something we can actively control, but there are several ways to reduce their severity.

We understand how painful body acne can be, and how much of an effect it can have on your confidence and ability to flaunt your body. Fret not, because we’ve found foolproof ways for you to get an acne-free experience sitting at home!

What causes body acne?

Experiencing a sudden onset of body acne on your back and chest? This might be caused by any of the following reasons:

  • Excessive sweating and poor hygiene
  • Hormonal imbalances
  • Fluctuations in your daily sleep and food routine
  • Irregular and poor diet, junk food binging
  • Oily and greasy hair which isn’t washed regularly
  • Extremely tight clothes, silky or rough cloth textures
  • Overly oily skin, extra sebum production and an accumulation of dead skin cells
  • Friction with clothing and sitting in sweaty clothes for long

How to get rid of body acne

Noticing your pores getting inflamed, small pustules being formed and having an uneven skin texture can be the warning signs of body acne. These are usually found on one’s neck, back and chest and can be concentrated in one area or popping up randomly across the body.

Fighting body acne needs active changes in lifestyle. This includes changing your diet, not consuming fatty and oily food, having less caffeine and eating at a set time regularly.

You can also opt for body serums; however, these might cause excessive dryness, itching and inflammation in sensitive skin.

Home remedies can help reduce the severity of your body acne and balance your skin’s composition in the long run. They also are a gentler solution to eliminating body acne and irritation.
