Winter skincare routine (Step by Step)

It’s that time of year again, where cold weather and dry skin are inevitable. Your skin is the largest organ on your body and likely the one you most want to protect. Winters can be tough on the skin, leaving it feeling dry and chapped. At times we tend to forget about our skincare in winter, especially when we’ve got so many other things going on. We’re sure you could use a little help remembering how to take care of your winter-ravaged complexion. There are plenty of products that can help you fight the good fight against dryness. But before that, to combat the winter blues, we’ve put together a list of our favourite tips on how to take care of skin in winter.
Follow these steps for perfectly hydrated and nourished skin.

1. Double cleansing
The first step of the winter skincare routine is double cleansing. If you are someone who travels a lot, double cleansing is a must. This keeps your skin hydrated. Select an oil that suits your skin type and is non-comedogenic. Apply it every alternate night on the skin and wash it off with a mild cleanser. Generally, almond oil, jojoba oil or sunflower oil are recommended.
2. Exfoliate
Using an exfoliating facial scrub or cleanser can make winter skin care a lot easier. The exfoliating act will make your skin supple and soft. It will also remove dead skin cells from your face, leaving it cleaner, brighter, and shinier. You can do this process twice a week.
3. A hydrating serum
Serums are the best treatment for your skin. They treat most of the skin problems and nourish the skin as well. Use a serum that has hyaluronic acid in it. This helps to retain moisture and thus, keep your skin hydrated.
4. Daily moisturizer
Your hands and feet are the first to get dry when the weather starts to drop. Keep them clean, by washing them daily, applying moisturizer and other lotions to help your skin stay moisturized. Your skin's barrier to the outside world is the lowest in the cold months. This means you'll want to apply more moisturizer, especially on your face. Make sure your moisturizer has SPF, as UV rays have a dehydrating effect on your skin. 5. Use a Face Mask
In the winter, it's super important to hydrate your skin as much as possible. And a face mask is a great way to help with this. It’s advisable to use a clean, non-drying face mask every other day, and use it for about 15-20 minutes.
Use a Humidifier to Keep Skin Moisturized
Humidity can help with your skin's hydration. Since our air is so dry, our skin tends to dry out. Keep a humidifier running throughout the winter, especially on your face, in your bathroom and in the room you sleep in. This will help to keep skin moisturized and soft, as well as prevent and relieve blemishes.

Quench your skin with lukewarm water and a pinch of apple cider vinegar. (It helps to keep your skin hydrated and moisturized.) The apple cider vinegar also helps to cut down on oil and make your skin less oily. With warm water, not hot, rinse your face with one of the oils and clays in your routine. They help to moisturize your skin and calm the inflammation. Always moisturize. Our skin naturally produces oil to help with hydration. If your skin is oily, you need to find an oil that is less oily than your normal moisturizer. Depending on the season, you may need to change the oil in your routine.
Skin care is not just about using products available in the market. There are a couple of things you can do at home to keep your skin hydrated. The simplest of things you can do to protect your skin is to wear a hat, scarf, or a warm vest. This will help to keep your skin extra moisturized.

2. Eat Some Dark Chocolate

3. Drink Tea

Tea is also packed with polyphenols, which help to balance the oils in your skin. Soak your tea bag in hot water, let it sit for a few minutes and then drink it. 4. Stay Warm Outside
A must have for winter skin is a good pair of gloves or a good winter jacket. The cold weather can really dry out your skin, making it more prone to breakouts, redness, and itching. We suggest you dress in layers to help keep your skin as moisturized as possible. Another key element of winter skincare is to moisturize, especially the lower half of your face. This will help prevent any cracks in the outer layer of your skin. Also, remember to moisturize after a shower, especially if you have any steam left on your skin.
