I am never buying anything that claims to be 'noir' or close to it. The fragrance pyramid looked great and so did the reviews on YouTube and Fragrantica. But this is just a softer, smoother, longer lasting, classier version of Axe Signature Gold Dark Vanilla and Oud. Not exactly the same of course because this one is thrice as costly as Axe Signature Gold. I should have guessed by its comparisons with a scent named Noir de Noir that it was going to do me no good. It is not a bad fragrance per se but to my nose, it's plain jarring. I was expecting the rose chocolate note that everyone was raving about. Nada. A woody note is very prominent in this scent and it plays out at the same time as a floral note (rose?) which is very subtle. These two keep playing hide and seek. I love it when I get a whiff of the floral note. I wish the woody note was more subdued. I am thinking of layering it with a spray of Forest Essentials Rose and Cardamon to see if the fragrance can change better. Make no mistake, this is an autumn-winter scent. Avoid it if you live in a city that's warm and/or humid throughout the year. If, however, you live in a higher altitude city or have cold winters , sample this scent! This is a unisex fragrance. When watching reviews on YouTube, look at reviews from South Asian connoisseurs more than Americans and Europeans. The weather, availability of flowers and spices plays a huge part in how people perceive fragrances. What Westerners think is great perfumery might just be pedestrian for an Indian. Excellent packaging and quick delivery as usual by Purplle. The price is competitive as compared to other e-commerce platforms. I got a Made in France flacon which is just gorgeous to behold. Black and gold is a classic duo. Unfortunately, this one doesn't hold a candle to Club de Nuit Woman which I reckon is one of the best perfumes I've ever used. EDIT on Nov 7 - The woody note that I smelt 12 hours earlier now smells different. I sprayed this on my underclothes and left them to dry for 10 minutes. The smell I get is intoxicating. For real. It smells like Sula port wine and I keep wanting to inhale it deeper. But still can't decide if it's a winner. :(. Edit: Jan 7 - This is a sureshot winner for me. Just read through my review and I want to change my mind. This is a value for money perfume. It lasts all day, keeps you smelling good (I heard this from a colleague!), is good for formal and casual outings. The first minute may be harsh to some noses so don't overdo the sprays. I do about 10 sprays on my clothes and let the scent settle before putting them on.
