Life hacks for periods

Sneha Singh

Periods can be annoying and painful but are necessary. A menstrual period helps you understand your physical reproductive health and is essential for regulating hormones inside a female’s body. That said, we are all looking for ways to have a better, less painful period, aren’t we? You’ll find loads of videos on life hacks for periods, titled, “period life hacks” or just “period hacks”, but none of them seems to work. So, we are going to give you some life hacks for periods that work.

Here are some tips and tricks for periods:

Pad, Cup, or Tampon?

Foremost on our list of period hacks is the choice of the right equipment. One of the primary reasons we hate periods is that the sanitary napkins available in the market seem to give us rashes. Also, tampons that we commonly find aren’t comfortable, and it’s not so easy to find menstrual cups in India today. So, what does a woman do? For this purpose, the Purplle store has a range of sanitary pads, tampons, and cups for you to choose from. If you’re looking for rash free pads, you can check out this link. If you're looking for tampons that don’t feel like they’re sticking out and rather hold in, while also accumulating enough leakage, then you should click on this link: https://www.purplle.com/search?q=sanitary%20pads

You would also find various menstrual cups on Purplle. We’ve recently started dealing in reusable cotton pads, which aren’t just comfortable and supportive but are also good eco-friendly alternatives.

  • Go Easy on Yourself

It seems that all time stands frozen during your period. We have a better idea: why not spend most of the time in your bed. Take rest. Drink loads of water. It’s okay not to do anything on such days. Periods can be painful and exhausting for women. So, do what you like. Think period life hacks, think chocolate! It’s fine if you put on a few pounds during these days. Your stomach would seem bloated, and that’s fine. Remember, cutting yourself a little slack is okay.

  •  Yoga

How to feel better on your period? Do some exercise. We know this isn’t quite a good time to be up and jumping, but science believes that a light workout in your periods can relieve stomach cramps and also make you healthy. We do not recommend you hit the gym or go swimming. However, we do recommend yoga aasanas and mudras to refresh your state of mind and feel energized too.

  • Fighting Acne Problems

During periods, many women experience breakouts and stubborn growth on their faces. One way of dealing with that is moisturizing yourself and keeping your body hydrated. You should also not give in to your oil cravings during your periods. You can also invest in helpful face masks and body washes that would exfoliate your skin and keep you glowing.

  •  Massage

If you suffer from stiff pains in your legs and stomach, then one way of dealing with that is gently massaging the aching portions using your own hands. You can apply essential oils such as lavender or tulip, which helps in cramps. You can alternatively use a hot pack to relax yourself. One can also go for a full-body massage and treat themselves with a spa session.

  •  Keep it Clean

A major point that could be impacting your emotional well-being is your physical well-being. Feeling dirty or noticing an unpleasant stench are signs that you need a sanitation change. Not making frequent discards and fixtures can lead to infections as well. You should make it a point to wash yourself well using mild soaps and cold water. Do not wait for longer than 8 hours to change the napkin or tampon. If you use a cup, you should wash it every 4 hours. If you do not feel conflicted about your period hygiene, your overall happiness will improve too. Here are also few myths and facts about periods you need to know.

Conclusion

These tips for periods aren’t based on hearsay, but on scientific evidence. We hope these period tips and tricks help you have a happier and safer period.
