The Importance Of Balancing Your Skin pH Level
Simran Sukhnani
Let’s accept it; none of us has the periodic table by heart, right? Because our dil is always stuck on the cute little cat videos. If you, just like me, were dozing off in chemistry class, there might be a VERY important lesson that you missed in the daydreams. What was it? None other than the oh-so-glorified skin pH level!

If you are one of the skincare champs, you might’ve heard the phrase “healthy skin pH” over and over again. But guess what happened? It went in through one ear and right through the other. Well, fret not because I have a magic trick right up my sleeve!
Today, I am dishing all about skin pH balance, and you might want to grab a cup because this tea is boiling hot!
It’s Spill Time! So, scroll to save your skin from a toll!
What are skin pH levels?

Okay, time to put the lab coats on.
pH = Potential of hydrogen. This is the wonder guy that defines something as acidic, basic or neutral. I am assuming you know about him, so no strolling here.
Your body rolls on a pH level of 7, which means? It’s a basic girl. But not your skin, though. That one is hotter, umm... I mean slightly acidic. The normal skin pH level jumps between 4-6, depending on where you are at girl.
Why is skin pH important?

Your skin is kind-of independent. It knows how to take care of itself, and that’s why it always strives for a balanced skin pH level a-k-a a healthy skin barrier. This is the knight in shining armour but for your face. It hustles hard to keep all of the good stuff in (moisture, sebum, water) and the bad stuff out (dirt, impurities, environmental aggressors).
Imagine what would happen if your busy skin pH is disturbed? Cough, cough..ACNE! And inflammation and irritation, and ageing. Girl, the list goes on.

Look at you; you’ve come so far in this blog and also in taking care of your skin. So it’s time to get some goodies and pH the heck out of that skin. Because, as our therapists say, it’s all about balance, right?
