Top Notes:

Also, popularly known as headnotes, top notes are the dominant scent in the perfume. They linger strongly the moment you spritz it and then evaporate quickly, transitioning to the other notes of the fragrance. Examples: Lemon, orange, bergamot, lavender, rose, basil, anise etc.

Heart Notes: 

Heart notes or middle notes are the connecting link between the other two notes and hence the name. It retains the aroma of the top note, adds a new scent of its own, and fuses both with the base note. It makes up about 70% of the scent and lasts longer than the top notes.
