Makeup guide
Your 5-minute quick work from home makeup guide!
Payal Bhattacharya
Yup! I’ve been working from home for Almost 2 years now, thanks to COVID-19! There are days I have not put on an ounce of makeup (well, most days). But there are also those days when I have used makeup just to feel more fresh and awake.
Why you may ask?
Well, it’s just like what a white crisp shirt and a fab pair of jeans can do. Just a little bit of an outfit change can make you feel like an instant #BossLady or on the TOP OF THE WORLD, ready to accomplish anything! Quite unlike the comfortable pajamas that tempt you to cuddle and snuggle in your bed a lil’ while longer. So you see, work from home makeup is more of a mind game!
It’s not just about looking good on a Zoom Call but it is also effective in brushing away all feelings of blah-ness and getting you into a productivity and positivity mode.
So what’s the ideal Work from Home Makeup Look?
Heavy makeup is not what we are aiming for (unless that’s your vibe), instead, we are here to ace the au-naturale No Makeup-Makeup Look. Scroll down to see how to nail the work-from-home makeup look.
And what’s better?
You won’t need more than 5-7 minutes.
You ready?
Let’s go!
1. My Skin but way Better :
Who has the time in the morning for a full-coverage foundation and concealer? The idea is to look as fresh as a flower and not like a picture-perfect painting.
So all you need is a sheer coverage foundation or BB cream to cover the most obvious blemishes and highlight those parts of the face that will attract light. For me, it is the under-eye and around my mouth. Don’t forget to lightly dust the T-zone, to avoid a greasy-creasy effect.
And just in case you think that you need a professional makeup brush and beauty blender to do office makeup looks at home, think again! I have been using my good ol’ trusty fingers for the best seamless finish!
We Recommend:
1. The Maybelline FitMe Foundation

The Maybelline FitMe Foundation has medium buildable coverage, perfect for normal to oily skin. Its formula refines pores for a natural-looking matte finish. Its 16 unique shades cater to a wide array of Indian skin tones.
2. NY Bae CC cream

This lightweight skincare-makeup hybrid, the NY Bae CC cream colour corrects redness and pesky spots in a jiffy. It moisturizes and instantly brightens skin imparting a luminous glow. Oh yes! How could we forget the SPF 20 sun protection?
How to use it?
Dot your foundation on your face, where you absolutely need coverage. Use your fingers and gently dab to press the product into the skin. Remember to dab and not swipe.
2. Cheeky Glow
When life gives you dull skin, make the best use of blush! Everyone loves a fresh rosy glow. A pop of colour on the apples of your cheek can be the best work from home makeup look everybody crushes on.
Top Tip: Try and steer away from too red or orange-y tones, cause it may just look too artificial on a zoom boom. (Trust me I’ve been there!) But a floral pink or a peachy coral can add a lit-from-within look. Sallow skin will not stand a chance!
We Recommend:
1. The Cheeky Girls Blush from Stay Quirky

The Cheeky Girls Blush from Stay Quirky is known for easy blending and buildable formula that makes swiping on blush an absolute dream!
2. Colorbar Cheekillusion Blush New Everything’s Rosy

The silky texture of Colorbar Cheekillusion Blush New Everything’s Rosy hugs your cheeks with a velvet touch. The extreme adhesion power makes it long-lasting and smudge-proof. So come what may, heat or humidity, here’s something that won’t budge, won't smudge.
How to use it?
It all starts with a smile. Identify the apples of your cheeks. Take your blush and sweep across your cheeks towards your temple bones. Begin with a light hand and less blush that build it up to the desired amount. Do read how long your makeup products last & how efficiently you can use them here!
3. The Barely-there-Nude for office makeup looks
And if there’s anything that looks absolutely stunning on screen, it is a cream-licious lipstick. A quick swipe can add so much life and definition to your lips! Not to mention how pout-perfect they’ll look for makeup for the office-at-home look.
Finding the perfect nude shade can be quite tricky. Here’s a quick cheat sheet:
- The balmy coral is perfect for fair skin with a cool undertone.
- The tan shade looks simply flattering on medium skin leaning towards a warm undertone.
- No one aces the coffee brown better than the dusky skin girls with a warm or cool undertone.
We Recommend:
1. The Maybelline New York Color Sensational Powder Matte Lipstick

The Maybelline New York Color Sensational Powder Matte Lipstick is creamy, matte, and silky all at once! With high-pigment payoff and honey nectar to hydrate the lips, what more can we ask for at this sweet price point! This is one of the best additions to how to do makeup at home office guide.
2.The Amaze Ariel Shade of NY Bae Liquid Lipstick

The Amaze Ariel Shade of NY Bae Liquid Lipstick will surely make you drown in the “high-life”- and we mean, high-pigment, high-performance, and high-lasting power.
How to use it?
Before you get started use chapstick to keep lips moisturized. Wipe off the excess lip balm to allow the lip bullet to glide perfectly. You can sharpen your edges with a lip liner as it will make it easy to fill in. Begin swiping the lipstick on the center of the lips, then taking the applicator to the edges or the corners. Use a tissue paper to wipe off any blunders or pigment that has been applied beyond the lip line.
4. The Gloss Boss
There are days when we have no time whatsoever. Is there one product that can make us glide through the office makeup look? It’s the high-shine lipgloss. There is nothing that a lipgloss can’t solve! It brings attention to the lips while keeping other unkempt bits out of the spotlight. What’s better is that you can take a wee bit of lipgloss on your fingers and gently press it on your cheekbones for a cheeky sheen!
We Recommend:
1. Colorbar Reflecting Starlit Lip Gloss.

How to use Gloss?
Apply lip gloss on the bottom lip and then rub the lips together for a glossy dimension and to avoid a gooey texture. Fill in the lower lips wherever required.
5. Awesome Arches you got there!
A bushy brow can be a real downer to looking put-together for the work from home makeup look. If you don’t have the time to fill them in, just brush them upward and outward with a spoolie and you're good to go. A well-groomed brow can really shape and add definition to a face. But just in case you have a couple of extra seconds, bring on a few flicks to transform sparse brows to thick brows.
We Recommend:
1. The Brow Artist Genius Kit by L’Oreal Paris

The Brow Artist Genius Kit by L’Oreal Paris is a trendsetting expert kit to redefine the look and shape of your brows. From natural to thick, create any look in a blink of an eye!
2. The SUGAR Arch Arrival Brow Definer

The SUGAR Arch Arrival Brow Definer has a specially-designed triangular slant that gives you both precise shaping with the pointed tip and generous filling with the flat edge. Quick easy swipes and viola!
How to use it?
Start with brushing your hair with a spoolie. To get those eyebrows on fleek make short gentle strokes moving upward and outward. Don’t forget to blend it all out with a spoolie to prevent harsh lines. You can use a highlighter on the eyebrow arch to give an illusion of a lifted effect.
6. Let’s talk lashes to ace Work from Home Makeup
With the bright light and questionable camera resolution, chances are your lashes have disappeared on the screen. A good mascara can really make an eye look memer-eye-zing, perfect for makeup for the office without looking extra!
Therefore, to make the lashes stand out despite the unforgiving low-resolution, the trick is to opt for a volumizing mascara and apply a double dose of it!
It’s like wearing falsies without the pain of messy glues, sticking them, and ripping them off at the end of the day.
We Recommend:
1. The Colossal Volume Express Waterproof Mascara

The Colossal Volume Express Waterproof Mascara is enriched with lush collagen plumping formula and a Mega Brush to instantly build 9X volume without clumps.
2. The Faces Canada MagnetEyes Volumizing Mascara

The Faces Canada MagnetEyes Volumizing Mascara has an intense pigment formulation that fully coats the lashes from root to tip to deliver with luscious fluttery lashes.
How to use it?
Wipe off the excess product back into the bottle and place the spoolie onto your lashes. Begin with the middle lashes and then head for the tricky corners. Use a “wiggle” motion for best results.
These are my personal favourites on how to do makeup at the home office and hope they’ll soon become yours too. Now that you know what you need to ace the work from home makeup look, it’s time to add them to the cart!
Enjoy the Zoom Boom, Google Meets, Whatsapp Video… in style. Get ready to snap those screenshots, selfies, group-fies..and don’t forget to add the best beauty of all, your infectious smile!
